About the Role
In this role, you will be responsible for providing high-level technical drafting expertise across various projects.
You will ensure technical drawings meet quality standards and project requirements. Timely delivery of drafting outputs within client expectations and budget is essential. Collaboration with engineers and project teams is key to success in this role. A strong focus on accuracy, efficiency, and technical excellence is required.
Key Responsibilities
Liaise effectively with engineers, project teams, clients, and authorities to support project coordination and maintain strong working relationships.
Attend resource meetings and provide regular updates on project progress to Project Leaders.
Deliver high-quality technical drafting services that meet client expectations, project deadlines, and internal quality standards.
Take proactive steps to ensure successful delivery of assigned tasks, including decision-making on technical matters and keeping Project Leaders informed.
Monitor and report on project performance against budget and timelines as requested.
Complete drafting work with minimal supervision, ensuring compliance with national drafting standards and accurately interpreting engineering sketches and mark-ups.
Provide support and guidance to junior drafting staff, contributing to the success of project teams.
Troubleshoot advanced drafting issues and resolve them efficiently.
Participate in the National Training Schedule as advised by the BIM Manager to support continuous development.
Develop system layouts based on engineering principles and ensure functional integration of all components.
Assist in component selection using standard engineering practices and industry documentation.
Anticipate potential project issues early and raise them with appropriate stakeholders.
Manage time effectively across multiple projects to meet deadlines and expectations.
Share technical knowledge and project insights regularly to support team capability and encourage professional development.
Promote knowledge sharing through mentoring, coaching, and contributing to internal technical discussions or workshops.
Stay up to date with relevant technologies, standards, legislation, and industry practices.
Maintain documentation in alignment with Meinhardt's Integrated Management System (IMS) and ensure compliance with all required standards.
Support improvement initiatives linked to business plans and help drive successful implementation.
Observe all occupational health and safety requirements and actively participate in compliance training and safety programs.
Report any hazards, near misses, or injuries immediately and seek advice when undertaking unfamiliar procedures.
Prioritise safe work practices for yourself and others.
Attend approved seminars, courses, and internal training to build professional skills.
Submit accurate timesheets daily and in accordance with company procedures.
Deliver high-quality service for both internal and external clients, aligned with Meinhardt's technical and quality standards.
Apply lateral thinking and collaborate with colleagues to solve project challenges and deliver innovative solutions.
Identify and implement opportunities for improved efficiency, contributing to continuous improvement across systems, processes, and project delivery.
Skills & Experience
Proven industry experience in technical drafting with the ability to identify project risks, resolve problems, and deliver effective solutions.
Strong understanding of documentation requirements in the building and construction industry.
High proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, particularly AutoCAD and Revit (MEP), with the ability to draw and model in both 2D and 3D environments.
Demonstrated capability in reading, analysing, and interpreting technical documents and preparing clear and accurate documentation.
Advanced skills in Autodesk Revit (MEP), AutoCAD, and Navisworks Manager, including experience with BIM project setup, coordination, and collaboration across disciplines.
Specialisation in mechanical HVAC, hydraulic, and electrical building services design drafting.
Ability to work independently while also taking direction from project engineers and line managers.
Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and pride in quality of work.
Demonstrated capacity to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances.
