Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia's future.
Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security.
We currently have an opportunity for a Sustainment Manager in Adelaide to work on Space projects.
What You'll Do
This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:
* Develop and manage SDAC sustainment strategies, including maintenance planning, upgrades, obsolescence management, and alignment with Defence asset management frameworks.
* Oversee SDAC sustainment programs and contracts, ensuring performance, budget control, contract compliance, and effective governance across complex and potentially international technical agreements.
* Build and manage stakeholder relationships with RAAF Space Command, DSTG, international partners, and industry to support space domain awareness and control activities.
* Maintain technical integrity and resource readiness by managing specialised components, software updates, configuration control, technical documentation, and system performance across SDAC assets
* Identify and manage sustainment risks, monitor system performance, support international collaboration, and contribute directly to strengthening Australia's space domain awareness capabilities.
What You'll Bring
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering, IT, physics, mathematics, logistics, business, or project management, supported by experience in complex technical environments.
* Defence or technical sustainment experience, including logistics, asset management, product sustainment, or work with integrated sensor systems, data fusion, or command‐and‐control capabilities.
* Strong project management capability, with practical experience delivering complex projects and familiarity with formal methodologies; certifications such as PRINCE2 or PMP are advantageous.
* Knowledge of Defence contracting and resource management, including ASDEFCON processes, supply chain principles, inventory control, and asset lifecycle management.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with experience in risk management and the ability to clearly convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
