Director, Registration, Information and Records Policy and Strategy
The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January **** to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government.
We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses.
We are doing this by connecting and digisting our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.
About the role
The Director, Registration, Information and Records Policy provides both strategic and operational leadership across critical policy domains, including life event registration, worker screening, government identity frameworks, and public records.
The role drives a forward-looking program of work to ensure these frameworks remain contemporary, effective, and trusted, while delivering authoritative advice to the Minister, Secretary, and Executive on complex policy, legal and regulatory government services matters.
The position also oversees operational policy settings for Births, Deaths and Marriages, and provides advice on government services to support customer-focused service delivery and compliance with privacy and integrity requirements.
Operating in a fast-evolving environment with digital and customer service excellence objectives applied across all streams of work, the Director supports Victoria's representation in intergovernmental forums, leads the state's contribution to national digital identity initiatives, and forges strong relationship with regulators, partner agencies, and stakeholders to advance reform and uphold public trust.

About you
To be considered for the role you must be able to demonstrate:
Executive leadership skills with a proven track record of building collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team cultures in complex and high-pressure environments.
Proven ability to lead teams in delivering timely, authoritative, and high-quality advice to government in complex, time-sensitive, and often ambiguous environments with competing priorities.
Strong track record of leading or contributing to the development or implementation of complex reviews to improve service delivery, regulatory frameworks, or operational effectiveness, resulting in measurable improvements in outcomes and public value.
Advanced strategic communication, influencing, and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage persuasively with senior stakeholders, build consensus across diverse interests, and shape outcomes in contested policy and regulatory environment.
Creates a culture that supports and respects diverse perspectives and approaches; demonstrates the ability to engage with and see issues from the perspective of people from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds.
Mandatory requirements
A relevant tertiary qualification in public policy, law, public administration, or a related field; and/ or senior officer with a proven record in management in large complex organisations.
