Overview

Relationships Australia Tasmania (RA Tas) is a community‐based, not‐for‐profit organisation committed to helping people and communities thrive. We deliver a variety of programmes to assist individuals and families.

This role provides trauma‐informed counselling, advocacy and case management support to survivors of institutional child sexual abuse who are engaging with the National Redress Scheme. The successful candidate will support clients to prepare, complete and submit Redress applications, while providing therapeutic support throughout the complex and emotionally challenging process. A key component is ensuring equitable access to Redress support services for people who are currently incarcerated, requiring regular attendance within correctional facilities.

The position works collaboratively with correctional services, government agencies and community organisations to support client outcomes. The successful candidate will also contribute to service development, maintain accurate records and work towards programme and service targets.

Qualifications

* Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or equivalent tertiary qualifications recognised to deliver therapeutic counselling services in accordance with agency requirements.
* Demonstrated experience providing trauma‐informed counselling and case management services to adults who have experienced trauma, abuse or other significant adversity.
* Knowledge and understanding of the impacts of childhood trauma, institutional abuse and complex trauma across the lifespan.
* Ability to engage therapeutically with clients who may present with complex needs, including mental health concerns, substance use issues, involvement with the justice system and other vulnerabilities.
* Experience supporting clients to navigate complex systems, prepare applications, advocate for their needs and access appropriate services.
* Ability to work effectively within correctional environments and establish productive relationships with correctional staff and external stakeholders.
* Strong written communication skills, including the ability to gather sensitive information and prepare detailed documentation and reports.
* Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a multidisciplinary team and maintaining professional boundaries in complex practice environments.
