ABOUT THE ROLE
An exciting opportunity exists for a Graduate Geologist to join Norton Gold Fields' Underground Mine Geology team at the Federal Mine Site.
Reporting to the Senior Underground Geologist, this role will support underground production and mine geology activities through accurate data collection, sampling, mapping and reporting.
This position offers hands-on exposure to underground operations and strong development under experienced geologists, making it an ideal opportunity for a motivated graduate looking to build a career in underground gold mining.
The role is residential to Kalgoorlie and operates on an 8:6 roster.
KEY DUTIES AND TASKS
Collect geological data to support mine planning, production and resource development
Undertake underground face sampling and provide timely, accurate information to operators
Perform underground production duties including stope checks, ROM and stockpile management
Log and process underground diamond drill core accurately and efficiently
Complete underground backs and wall mapping to a high standard
Assist with interpretation of lithology, structure and mineralisation
Conduct QAQC checks and maintain internal quality control standards
Ensure daily ore production data is entered and reported accurately and on time
Work closely with geology, technical services, underground operators and drillers to support daily and weekly plans
Maintain a safe, organised and backlog-free core yard where possible
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Tertiary qualification in Geology (recent graduate or early-career)
National Police Clearance
High Risk Forklift License (desirable)
Previous vacation or practical experience in mining or geology (desirable)
Strong interest in underground mining and production geology
Ability to think spatially and interpret geological data in 3D
Willingness to learn underground systems, processes and software
Good communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with operational teams
Strong safety awareness and commitment to WHS compliance
Ability to work in underground conditions including hot, humid and dusty environments
BENEFITS
Excellent remuneration package with additional allowances.
$12k residential allowance per annum, for employees residing in Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
$4.8k site allowance per annum.
