Your Role

This role is based at the Adele House Alcohol and Other Drug Facility in Coffs Harbour, and is part of a small team coordinating training and lifeskills support for the residents. These roles work alongside the clinical staff but primarily look after training and wellbeing activities, as part of an integrated model of care, in which lifeskills and job-readiness are acknowledged as important outcomes of an individual’s recovery journey.

As Activities Coordinator, you will be responsible for developing, delivering and overseeing training programmes, workshops and practical activities across a range of trade and technical areasincluding carpentry, metalwork and mechanics, all supported by the facility’s in office workshops and equipment. This role is central to our integrated model of care, where life skills and job-readiness are seen as key outcomes, helping residents build confidence and prepare for independent living.

Your Responsibility

Develop and deliver basic trade training (e.g. carpentry, metal work) using existing equipment and workshop facilities at Adele House.

Facilitate hands‑on and project‑based skills training, supporting residents' ongoing learning.

Coordinate external training with RTOs, consultants, technical experts and volunteers.

Support wider training activities, events and initiatives that build resident engagement and social connection.

Grow the program by partnering with external organisations and piloting new initiatives based on resident input.

Create pathways for residents into further training, volunteering or employment post-residency.

Develop and document training content and curricula.

Oversee logistics, project management, data collection and impact evaluation.

Track post-residency progress on residents' skill development and employment outcomes.

You Will Need

Experience in one or more trade skills.

Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or experience in community development, social work, community services, education or a related field.

Strong understanding of the community sector and the challenges faced by people affected by homelessness, trauma, mental health issues, substance use and unemployment.

Proven experience in delivering adult‑focused training.

Experience coordinating and facilitating programs, events or activities for socially excluded or vulnerable groups.

Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to confidently manage high‑conflict situations using de‑escalation strategies.

Excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
