Tas Gas Networks delivers natural gas to homes and businesses across Tasmania through our gas distribution network. Behind that network is a skilled and supportive team of Field Technicians who help keep energy flowing safely and reliably to our communities.
We are looking for someone who enjoys hands-on work, problem solving, and being part of a team that takes pride in maintaining essential infrastructure for Tasmania.
This role could suit someone early in their career, looking to start a trade-style career in the energy sector, or someone with experience in another industry who wants to try something new.
About the Role
As a Field Technician, you will work as part of our Field Services team maintaining and supporting the gas distribution network that supplies homes, businesses and industry across Tasmania.
Based in Hobart, you will work across your local area helping maintain pipelines, meters and network infrastructure while responding to faults and supporting customers.
You'll receive training, mentoring and support from experienced technicians as you develop your skills in this specialised industry.
What You'll Do
Your work will be varied and practical, including:
* Maintaining and repairing gas network assets such as pipelines, meters and regulators
* Responding to faults, customer outages and gas leak reports
* Installing, reconnecting and replacing gas meters
* Locating and protecting underground assets during construction works
* Supporting emergency response when network incidents occur
* Completing inspections and safety checks across the network
* Recording work and asset information in our systems
* Working safely and following industry procedures and standards
What you'll bring
You don't need to come from the gas industry, we are looking for people with the right attitude, curiosity and willingness to learn.
This role may suit someone who:
* Enjoys working outdoors and being hands-on
* Has good mechanical aptitude or problem-solving ability
* Takes pride in working safely and doing quality work
* Works well as part of a team
* Is comfortable using tools, equipment and technology
Experience in construction, plumbing, mechanical, civil, electrical or other trades would be beneficial, but not essential.
A current driver's licence is required.
