Harm Minimisation is a key tenet of the model of care. It is a multidisciplinary service that includes nursing, medical and allied health clinicians alongside peer support and Aboriginal health workers. DACS operates in a range of community, outpatient and inpatient settings, providing prevention, early intervention drug and alcohol assessment and treatment counselling and case management throughout Hunter New England Health.The RoleIn this role, you’ll utilise your advanced clinical skills to assess, plan, and deliver high-quality, individualised nursing care. Collaborating with Hunter New England Drug and Alcohol Clinical Services, you’ll support primary treating teams while providing a Drug and Alcohol Consultation Liaison service to emergency departments, inpatient wards, and outpatient clinics. As part of this role, you’ll have the opportunity to complete an orientation at John Hunter Hospital serving as a Clinical Liaison. In this capacity, you’ll provide recommendations for patients with substance use issues, enhancing care delivery and outcomes. You’ll also have the opportunity to share your expertise by delivering in-service training and contributing to the development of specialty clinical practices. Opportunity to work with the MERIT program helping defendants with substance use issues focus on rehabilitation prior to sentencing.
