Overview
The Electrical Engineering Technician will be responsible for assisting in the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment. Working closely with electrical engineers, the technician will carry out tasks such as testing, troubleshooting, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. This role provides technical support for various electrical projects, ensuring all systems function optimally and meet both operational and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of electrical systems, components, and control systems.
- Prepare and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Conduct tests on electrical systems and equipment, recording results for quality assurance.
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and components as needed.
- Monitor performance of electrical equipment and make adjustments to ensure optimal function.
- Work with engineers to ensure electrical systems meet regulatory codes and industry standards.
- Assist in developing estimates for materials, labor, and project timelines.
- Maintain safe working practices, ensuring adherence to electrical safety regulations.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent (AQF Level 6 or equivalent).
- Proven experience in electrical system design, installation, and maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of electrical principles, codes, and safety regulations.
- Proficiency in using electrical testing equipment and CAD software.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
