Gateway is a fast growing Western Australian mining services business specialising in heavy equipment repairs, component rebuilds, surface engineering and hydraulic cylinder repairs across Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi and other major OEM fleets. With workshops in High Wycombe and Malaga, we support some of the state's leading miners and contractors by delivering quality workmanship, quick turnaround times and reliable service.
Our team is made up of skilled Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanics, Fitter Machinists, Welders and Spray Painters who take pride in their work. We're serious about safety, continuous improvement and doing things the right way and we're looking for a proactive and dedicated Health & Safety Officer who shares those values as we continue to grow.
This full-time role supports our divisions across High Wycombe and Malaga, helping us maintain safe, compliant and positive workplaces. The role is based at our High Wycombe office.
About the role
In this hands-on position, you will oversee and continually improve our Work Health & Safety Management System across both Gateway sites. You'll work closely with management, workshop teams and safety representatives to ensure a strong safety culture and compliance with WHS legislation.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, review and implement our WHS Management System.
* Conduct audits, inspections, observations and gather employee feedback.
* Ensure legislative and internal WHS compliance across all sites.
* Lead incident and accident investigations, identify root causes and implement control measures.
* Support staff with hazard identification, risk assessments and implementing hierarchy-of-control solutions.
* Monitor environmental and workplace factors such as fumes, gases, noise, lighting and ergonomics.
* Facilitate return-to-work programs.
* Maintain the WHS database and produce safety reports.
* Run safety meetings, inductions and training across all workshops.
* Inspect machinery, tools, facilities and emergency equipment.
* Select appropriate PPE for various tasks.
* Oversee fire prevention equipment inspections.
* Encourage proactive safety behaviour and compliance with WHS standards.
