What you’ll do The Senior Category Manager – Kidswear plays a key role in bringing the BIG W Clothing transformation to life by driving the conception and development of all product in your portfolio.
You will lead with commercial innovation, creativity, and customer insight, ensuring Kidswear continues to be a standout category for BIG W.
Working closely with the Head of Clothing, you'll design and deliver solid business strategy that meets category budgets and inspires your product team.
You’ll lead end-to-end category management — including range sign-off, sourcing, inventory, supplier performance, and financial outcomes — while ensuring alignment to brand identity and competitiveness in market.
Key responsibilities Build the category mission and strategy through deep understanding of customer insights and market trends, contributing to the overall BIG W Clothing strategy
Lead national and own brand sourcing, range builds, and supplier negotiations
Ensure seasonal ranges are balanced, customer-relevant, and aligned to the business plan
Oversee supplier and product reference data within your team
Drive pricing and margin strategies while monitoring competitor activity
Develop and manage strategies for both national brand vendors and private label
Manage category financial performance, including post-season analysis and stock optimisation
Set and execute regular and promotional pricing strategies
Deliver and track against business plans with clear accountability
What you’ll bring A strong background in Kidswear, including experience in own brand/private label development
Proven experience managing high-profile brands and sizeable categories
Demonstrated success in exceeding financial KPIs, driving sales growth, and maintaining profitability
Extensive experience as a commercial buyer or category manager, successfully trading a large-scale clothing category in both revenue and volume
