PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

The Cable Tester/Locator performs specialised HV/LV cable testing, fault finding, and locating across overhead, underground, and substation
networks up to 66KV, and issues Authority to work in the vicinity (permit) (AWV) up to 132KV. They use field and office systems for reporting, follow
safety and environmental policies, comply with access procedures, respond to Before you dig Australia (BYDA) requests, and participate in training
and after-hours rosters to support operational safety and reliability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The “WHAT” to be delivered

- Effectively carry out High Voltage & Low Voltage cable testing/locating/fault finding activities associated with overhead, underground and zone

substation networks up to 66KV.
- Use office and field-based computer systems to maintain records and provide reports.
- Ensure compliance with Power and Water’s Access to Apparatus Procedures.
- Participate in training activities to meet organisational requirements.
- Issue Authority to work in the vicinity (permit) (AWV) on overhead, underground and zone substation networks up to 132KV.
- Participate in afterhours on call roster.
- Action AWV requests through Before you dig Australia (BYDA).

Qualification and Skills Experience
