Our progressive City Projects department has an exciting opportunity for an Engineer to join our Hydrology and Environment team. As part of this team, you will provide professional engineering advice and design services across a broad range of engineering disciplines including civil, geotechnical, structural, hydraulic, hydrological and environmental.
You will also work alongside our dedicated multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of significant infrastructure projects and strategies for our city.
Your key focus areas are:
* Provide planning support to Council
* Undertaking investigations of engineering problems
* Provide professional engineering advice to Council staff, including advice as part of investigation and design of engineering problems, assisting contract and tender documentation, construction management, legal representation, and business improvement activities
* Develop concept options to manage complex engineering problems
* Design infrastructure in compliance with safe design duties under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (NSW) and Work Health and Safety Regulation 2017 (NSW)
* Manage projects in accordance with Council's project management system
* Prepare and manage consultancy contracts as part of investigations and design when required
* Undertake risk and environmental assessments

You will apply best practice civil and environmental engineering principles and use your strong problem-solving, communication and project management skills to deliver high-quality solutions for our community. With experience in areas such as hydrology, hydraulics, road drainage or water quality treatment, you will collaborate effectively across disciplines and apply your knowledge of legislation, standards and innovative engineering practices. Your ability to use computer systems to resolve engineering problems will further support practical and future-focused outcomes.
Specifically, you will bring:
* Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Civil, Structural, or Environmental), or equivalent experience and qualifications in a relevant discipline
* Eligible for admission as Graduate Member / Member / Chartered Engineer in the occupation category of Professional Engineer of Engineers Australia
* Demonstrated experience in planning, investigations, and design of hydrology and environmental engineering projects
* Proven ability to manage project workload and organise and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
* Proven ability to work collaboratively
