Glen Innes Severn Council is seeking an experienced and motivated leader to manage the delivery, maintenance and enhancement of our parks, gardens, sporting facilities, recreational assets and cemeteries. This is a key leadership role shaping the quality, safety and presentation of public spaces across our region.

As Manager Recreation & Open Spaces, you will ensure our community enjoys safe, functional and attractive public spaces. You'll lead a multidisciplinary team, oversee operational and capital works programs, and drive continuous improvement across the portfolio.

Your Key Responsibilities
* Provide strategic leadership across open space, recreation and cemetery services.
* Lead the development and review of strategies, master plans and service plans.
* Oversee operational, maintenance and capital works programs.
* Manage and support staff, fostering a positive, inclusive and safety‐focused culture.
* Develop and manage budgets, procurement processes and contracts.
* Ensure compliance with legislation, regulations and Council policies.
* Build strong relationships with community groups, sporting organisations, contractors and government agencies.
* Provide accurate reporting and professional advice to senior management and Council.
What You Bring
* Experience managing parks, open space, sporting, recreational or community facility services in local government or a similar regulated environment.
* Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams.
* Strong experience in operational, maintenance and capital works planning and delivery.
* Demonstrated people leadership and WHS culture development.
* Financial, procurement, project and contract management capability.
* Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
* Current Class C Driver Licence.
* Tertiary qualifications in Horticulture, Parks & Open Space Management, Landscaping, Construction or related fields.
* Knowledge of the Local Government Act 1993 (NSW).
* Experience with strategies, master plans, grants and externally funded projects.
