Southside Family Medical is seeking an experienced Business Manager to lead the practice's finance and administrative functions and support the effective day-to-day running of the practice.
This is a senior finance and administration role focused on payroll, financial management, business systems and reporting, with the opportunity to take on broader operational responsibility as the practice grows. Working closely with the Practice Directors, the role supports sound decision-making through accurate financial management, reliable reporting and well-maintained administrative systems.
About the role
In this role, you'll be responsible for the financial and administrative backbone of the practice. Your focus will be on finance, payroll, accuracy, compliance, strong systems and clear reporting that supports a busy healthcare environment.
Key responsibilities include:
* Managing end-to-end payroll and financial administration
* Accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations and bookkeeping
* Preparing budgets, forecasts and financial analysis
* Monitoring cash flow, expenditure and asset registers
* Providing costing, financial insights and regular reporting to the Practice Directors
* Preparing and submitting grant funding or loan applications as required
* Overseeing administrative systems and workflows to ensure efficiency and consistency
* Evaluating and recommending practice software and technology improvements
* Supporting GPs and staff in adopting new systems and processes
* Supporting compliance, accreditation and quality improvement activities
* Assisting with recruitment, retention initiatives and workforce administration
About you
You're an experienced business professional with at least 3 years' experience who enjoys taking ownership of systems, managing complex information and providing clear, practical advice. You're confident working independently, comfortable with numbers, and able to communicate clearly with both clinical and non-clinical staff.
You'll bring:
* Experience in financial management, business administration or practice management
* Strong knowledge of Medicare, payroll, budgeting, and financial reporting
* Proficiency with MYOB, payroll systems, practice management software and Microsoft 365
* Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
* Clear written and verbal communication skills
* A practical, collaborative approach to working with clinical and administrative teams
* Experience in a medical or allied health environment or multidisciplinary healthcare setting is highly regarded but not essential.
