Your Opportunity
Transition To Work is a highly successful, life‑changing program supporting young people aged 15 to 24 as they move toward sustainable employment or further education. With a strong focus on those who have left school early or are experiencing difficulty entering the workforce, the program equips participants with the confidence, skills, and direction they need to realise their potential and build a brighter future.
This is an on‑site position that places you at the heart of meaningful, face‑to‑face engagement with young people in the Casuarina community. As a Youth Employment Specialist, you will thrive in a role that champions advocacy, empowerment, and personalised support, helping participants overcome both vocational and non‑vocational barriers. You'll use initiative, creativity, and strong relationship‑building skills to guide young people through a voluntary service that meets them where they are and supports where they want to go.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Engage and build trust with young people by applying your understanding of current youth challenges to create strong, supportive relationships.
* Work collaboratively with participants to develop tailored Job Plans that reflect their aspirations, strengths, and goals.
* Conduct assessments to identify and address vocational and non‑vocational barriers to employment.
* Provide individualised pre‑employment support, including job‑readiness coaching and confidence‑building activities.
* Create and facilitate group activities, learning sessions, and experiences that promote independence and employability.
* Develop and maintain partnerships with internal teams, external service providers, employers, and training organisations to expand opportunities for participants.
* Manage job‑matching tasks such as shortlisting, interview scheduling, reference checks, and delivering post‑placement support for up to 26 weeks.
Requirements for Success
* Significant experience within Employment Services, Social Services, Social Welfare, and/or the Youth sector.
* Tertiary qualification or Diploma in a relevant field (highly desirable).
* Background in Youth Services, Jobactive Services or case management (desirable).
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to tailor your approach to suit diverse audiences.
* Proven ability to engage and support young people experiencing life challenges, demonstrating persistence, flexibility, and innovative problem‑solving.
* Demonstrated professionalism with a clear understanding of maintaining healthy and appropriate boundaries.
* Strong administrative capability, including accurate report writing and the ability to meet deadlines while managing competing priorities.
* First Aid & CPR Certificate is desired but not required.
* Full driver licence with no restrictions.
Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
Your Benefits
To ensure our employees feel valued, empowered, and celebrated, we provide a range of employee benefits including:
* Rewarding work – every day you know you're making a real difference
* Not-for-profit salary packaging, reducing your tax (details via AccessPay)
* Free external, confidential counselling and access to chaplaincy support.
* Volunteering opportunities
* Extra leave available including an additional public holiday, additional annual leave day on your work anniversary and the opportunity to purchase further annual leave.
