Overview

CRC (Cooperative Research Centre). Be part of a forward-looking, strategically funded initiative shaping how UQ approaches future CRC opportunities. Full-time, fixed-term position for up to 2 years with base salary in the range $117,958 - $132,247 + 17% super (HEW Level 8). Based at our St Lucia Campus.

Opportunity

Take the lead on a significant transformation of how The University of Queensland manages and maximises its Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) portfolio. In this newly created fixed-term Manager, Cooperative Research Centres role, you'll drive a key program of work to establish stronger governance, improve performance, and unlock greater value from a multi million dollar investment spanning complex, multi-disciplinary partnerships. Working across technical domains, industry collaborations and national funding programs, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping a more strategic, coordinated approach to CRC engagement. This is a rare opportunity to step into a high-impact project building new frameworks, influencing major funding outcomes, and positioning UQ as a stronger, more strategic partner in CRC initiatives.

Responsibilities

1. Drive transformation of the CRC Portfolio that will shape how CRC research projects, contracts and agreements across the portfolio are managed and delivered.
2. Provide strategic advice to maximise return on investment from UQ's CRC partnerships and funding.
3. Support the development of competitive CRC funding bids where UQ is the lead, including high-quality written submissions to bids that UQ is supporting.
4. Build and manage relationships with researchers, CRCs, government and industry partners and internal stakeholders.
5. At a portfolio level, oversee governance, reporting and compliance to ensure CRC deliverables, milestones and funding conditions are met.

About You

6. Demonstrated experience working with Cooperative Research Centres or similar large-scale research funding programs
7. Strong background in the management and commercialisation of research, funding applications, or research development within a dynamic organisation
8. Proven ability to build and manage relationships with academic, industry and commercial partners
9. Ability to navigate and interpret complex agreements and work collaboratively with legal stakeholders
10. Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritise and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced environment
11. High-level written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing strategic reports or funding submissions
12. Creative and strategic thinker, with the ability to identify opportunities to strengthen research outcomes and partnerships
