Your role
The Data Management and Standards team sit within FACSIAR, the analytics, research and evaluation branch of the Department of Communities and Justice. The team is responsible for building the data foundations that underpin evidence-based decision making across child protection, out-of-home care, housing and disability services.
This is a great opportunity to be involved in supporting the use a cloud-based analytics platform in enabling targeted analysis, developing new metrics and interactive reporting tools to help improve DCJ service delivery performance.
What you'll do
As an analyst, you'll design and maintain cloud-based data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform that turn complex operational data into trusted, reusable assets for analysts, researchers and program teams across the department.
You will work closely across multidisciplinary teams spanning areas such as operations, evaluation, economic modelling, strategic and operational reporting.
Work with a team to support the development of data assets and supporting infrastructure. Carry out data management activities to uplift analytical and reporting teams in driving departmental decisions with meaningful data analysis and insights. Work in a multidisciplinary team of dedicated data engineers, analysts, and subject matter experts to provide evidence to inform policy and operational practice that directly supports the people of NSW. What we're looking for
The ideal candidate has experience in working with a diverse range of stakeholders to develop and maintain data pipelines using cloud-based platforms. They have well developed technical skills in industry standard languages and tools such as SQL, Python or R, experience in real world data modelling and warehousing.
A background in or exposure to a variety of analytical disciplines and approaches such as the development of measures and KPIs, use of BI tools, research, evaluation and statistical modelling as well as metadata and data governance would be a strong asset to a candidate for this role.
Domain knowledge on terminology, practice and data systems in areas of DCJ operation such as Housing and Child Protection is highly desirable.
