Merri-bek Community Food Alliance Coordinator

Merri-bek City Council is seeking a part-time, maximum-term Coordinator for the Merri-bek Community Food Alliance. This role is part of Vic Health’s Local Food Partnership and offers flexible schedule (up to 19 hours per week) for 3 years.

- Salary: $99k - $108k (pro rata) + Super

About The Role

This is an exciting role building on work addressing food security. The role involves partnering with community organisations to implement innovative solutions for greater community benefit. It is part of a dynamic project funded by Vic Health’s Local Partnerships for Food First and is one of 9 projects funded across Victoria. You will work within the Community Development and Social Policy team with project partners including Merri Food Hub, Open Table, Fawkner Food Bowls and Growing Farmers.

This role will facilitate the following:

- Building capacity and strengthening strategic and operational links between Alliance partners
- Expanding reach and effectiveness of existing food security programs between Alliance partners
- Designing and implementing targeted community engagement activities to address the needs of food insecure communities in north Merri-bek

Skills And Experience Required

Demonstrated knowledge of food system issues (e.g., sustainable food models, food insecurity, local food growing).

- Knowledge of Merri-bek’s diverse communities and the community food sector
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing community food enterprise service delivery systems, logistics and operations
- Experience in delivering community programs and projects (time and budget management, problem solving, evaluation) involving diverse stakeholders
- Strong communication and engagement skills with diverse groups, including designing and delivering targeted engagement programs, developing and managing stakeholder relationships, and negotiating complex issues
- Proven strategic and analytical capabilities, including strategy, research and program development
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for a range of audiences
