The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of Australia's largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs including withdrawal management, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, and harm reduction programs. Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely.
About the role
Are you passionate about making a real difference in people's lives? We're looking for a values-driven AOD Support Worker to join our dedicated team and support individuals on their journey of recovery from alcohol, other drug (AOD), and/or gambling dependencies.
Through this rewarding program, you'll help bring hope, healing, and renewed strength to individuals, their families, and their communities.
This is a permanent, part-time position (30.4 hours per fortnight), based in Canberra, ACT, reporting to the Support Worker Team Leader. If you're ready to be part of a compassionate and impactful team, we'd love to hear from you
You will successfully
* Support participants in line with established frameworks and TSA policies and procedures, being accessible and visible to participants to ensure their needs are dealt with promptly.
* Assist case workers to address participant needs, administer the program, contribute to case plans, educational group facilitation and provide supervision to participants.
* Support with outreach to participants living in CRS Transitional Houses in Narrabundah.
* Undertake ad-hoc duties as requested by Management .
* Record relevant information in SAMIS within required timeframes and in accordance with TSA Recovery Services and Centre guidelines.
* Supervise self-administration of medication & drug testing as required and record as per TSA policy and procedure.
You will have
* AOD Certificate IV or equivalent (or working towards).
* Knowledge and understanding of AOD/Gambling, Community Services and Mental Health.
* An understanding of requirements of working with people from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background.
* Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and religions.
* Energetic and flexible team player with a positive attitude.
* Demonstrated ability to deal with unpredictable situations and behaviours utilising de-escalation techniques .
* Alignment with the values of integrity, respect, compassion, collaboration, and diversity.
* A Current First Aid Certificate.
* A National Police Record Check.
* Vaccination Certificate.
* Valid and current drivers license.

Conditions
Compensation is in accordance with SCHADS Award Level 3.
