The Opportunity
Shaw Contracting is embarking on an exciting phase of expansion in Tasmania's North West, and we're looking for a motivated Project Engineer to join our team for an 18-month fixed-term contract.
Based primarily in the North West region, you'll play a key role in delivering high-impact civil infrastructure projects while working alongside experienced Project Managers and Supervisors. This position offers genuine exposure to diverse project types, hands-on technical leadership, and the opportunity to make your mark on some of Tasmania's most significant infrastructure developments.
With our strong project pipeline and commitment to developing our people, this contract role provides a clear pathway to future opportunities within our growing business.
What You'll Do
* Provide technical and engineering support across a variety of civil projects.
* Interpret drawings, standards, and specifications to guide site execution.
* Prepare and monitor ITPs, quality records and site documentation.
* Assist Project Managers with planning, budgets, schedules and reporting.
* Ensure compliance with WHS, environmental and quality management systems.
* Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and consultants on technical matters.
* Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation in project delivery.
Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
* 2–4 years' post-graduate engineering experience in civil construction.
* Demonstrated capability in road, dam, irrigation, mining or infrastructure projects.
* Proven ability to interpret drawings and manage site documentation.
* Working knowledge of WHS requirements and compliance processes.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Proficiency in MS Office and exposure to project management software.
* Current Australian Driver's Licence (essential).
* Highly regarded: Professional registration with Engineers Australia, First Aid/CPR, and Tasmanian project exposure.

Important Information
