About The Role
As Planning and Intelligence Systems Officer you will join the Disaster and Natural Hazards Section and provide disaster and natural hazards data analysis, planning and intelligence across the prevention, preparedness, response and recovery continuum. You will support work across a board spectrum of natural hazards, with an emphasis on flooding.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate and manage disaster and natural hazards technology systems, including scoping, procurement, service delivery, system administration, data integration and management of vendors.
* Develop, implement and maintain strategies, policies, procedures, plans, guidelines and associated actions that will inform and shape disaster and natural hazards resilience within Ipswich.
* Provide disaster and natural hazards data analysis and data visualisation/mapping, risk assessment and planning and intelligence services.
* Collaborate with key stakeholders to coordinate disaster and natural hazards data management, integration and analysis.
* Enhance the knowledge and capability of key stakeholders to use disaster and natural hazards systems, data, processes and outputs through design and coordination of training and exercises.
* Take a lead role in planning and intelligence functions during disasters and emergencies, including but not limited to using flood forecasting systems and outputs.
About You
* Queensland C class driver's licence.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Demonstrated ability to operate under limited direction and exercise sound judgement in decision making and the provision of advice.
* Ideally have tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline particularly within engineering, geographic information systems technology, business or disaster management.
* Familiarity with one or more of the following: ArcGIS Pro, AGOL, PowerBI/Fabric, waterRIDE would be an advantage.
* Experience in disaster management is preferred but not essential.
