Yorke and Northern Local Health Network, Peterborough OPS2 | Part Time 0.4 FTE | Ongoing Salary: $58,709 - $63,154 p.a (pro rata) Eligibility: Open to Everyone Make a Meaningful Impact as a Diversional Therapist with YNLHN
Are you passionate about enriching the lives of older adults and creating opportunities for meaningful connection, stimulation, and wellbeing?
Join YNLHN as a Diversional Therapist, where you'll design, coordinate, and deliver engaging leisure and lifestyle programs for residents at Nalya Lodge and Peterborough Soldiers Memorial Hospital.
This role offers the chance to support residents in maintaining independence, dignity, and a fulfilling lifestyle through person-centred, therapeutic activities.
Key Responsibilities: Assess each resident's abilities, interests, and cognitive capacity to inform activity planning.
Plan, organise, and deliver group activities that meet residents' social, emotional, and cognitive needs.
Develop and deliver individual activities tailored to each resident's goals and abilities.
Create dementia-specific activity programs with clear objectives and evaluation processes.
Ensure adequate equipment, facilities, and personnel are available to deliver safe, effective programs.
Complete all documentation accurately and on time, including activity plans, assessments, and participation records.
Support and guide volunteers, including recognising their capabilities and training needs.
Assist with direct resident care as required, such as toileting and general support.
Participate in quality improvement, mandatory training, and professional development.
Maintain confidentiality, uphold organisational policies, and comply with aged care and WHS standards.
Foster a safe and healthy working environment by identifying hazards and following safe work practices.
Contribute to health promotion and community-focused initiatives within the service.
What We're Looking For: We're seeking an experienced and compassionate Diversional Therapist or Activities Coordinator with a strong background in delivering direct care and working with elderly residents.
You will have experience supervising staff and volunteers, developing therapeutic programs, and contributing to resident wellbeing through meaningful engagement.
Experience in a health-related field and competence with computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel are essential.

This is a part time vacancy, working 30 hours per fortnight and salary will be adjusted according to actual hours worked.
