Reporting to the Operations Manager, theHealth and Safety Officer - CM QLDpartners with the Site Managers to develop and implement Health and Safety systems and strategies that enable a positive safety culture to keep our people safe, healthy and well.
The role is responsible for performing the delivery of diverse and contemporary safety approaches and practices within the construction materials business segment, at various locations.
This is a hands-on role, in a fast-moving work environment and you will be promoting and supporting a strong health and safety culture across our workforce.
Key Responsibilities
Perform site safety inspections, hazard identifications and risk assessments, implementing corrective actions
Investigate injuries and incidents and provide corrective action recommendations
Maintain and review safety documentation and systems, including development of management plans and SWMS
Report on health and safety issues, and statistics
Support compliance with legislation, MAAS policies and standards and the safety management system
Assist with employee inductions and training, including educating workforce on their rights and obligations under relevant safety legislation
Assist with internal audits and support action plans
Assist with Workcover Claims Management and Return to Work Coordination when required for specific operations
Must be available to visit other site locations as required
To Be Successful In This Role
Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety / OHS
Current driver's licence required
Good understanding of Work Health and Safety Legislation
Experience in Health and Safety preferably in a blue-collar industry; mining or quarrying experience highly desirable
Operating knowledge of Heavy Plant & Equipment
Working knowledge of acts, regulations, codes of practice and standards
Intermediate computer literacy
Excellent written and verbal communication
