Overview
Food Services Assistant ) – Department of Health, Tasmania. Provide a high standard of food service to hospital patients, staff and patrons of the Launceston General Hospital (LGH). In accordance with Agency policies, procedures, and guidelines, assist with food preparation, production, plating service, ware-washing, and cleaning duties in the provision of catering services to patients, visitors, and staff of the hospital.
Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining a high standard of food preparation, production, service, meal distribution, ware-washing, and cleaning of the hospital service areas in accordance with relevant codes of practice.
- Actively participate in and contribute to the organisation’s Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including in the development and implementation of safety systems, improvement initiatives, safeguarding practices for vulnerable people, and related training.
- Clean and sanitize all kitchen equipment, utensils, floors, and walls as directed by relevant supervisors and in accordance with relevant guidelines.

- Ability to work as part of a team and as an individual
- Ability to work in a busy environment safely with a focus on patients’ needs
- Working knowledge of food safety is preferable
- Point of sale experience is preferred
- Espresso coffee making experience is preferred
Details of appointment
Fixed term, casual, shift worker (fully rotational) position, commencing as soon as possible for approximately 12 months. Hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant. This selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar vacancies for a period of twelve months from the date of publication.
Salary and Benefits
Salary: $57,130 to $62,486 per annum (Pro rata). Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
