RequirementsFor Ship's Master, Ships Engineer (Fishing), Master Fisher, Ship's Officer: at least 5 years of relevant experience for ranked positions.
Sea time of less than 5 years may be considered subject to your experience.All ranked positions require holding the appropriate licenses or registrations.
You must hold the appropriate tickets; otherwise you will not be considered.Fishing and Deckhands: no less than 2 years' work experience evidence by sea-time or logbook.All positions: provide verifiable references.
All positions: strong physical endurance for working on a deck, often in heavy seas and sometimes in cramped spaces.
Ranked positions may include managing fishing operations aboard your vessel in consultation with the company owners.
You will be away from home for several days or weeks.
Normally there is a short turnaround before returning to sea.
Seafood Processor ResponsibilitiesYour duties may include some or all the following typical tasks:Assist in unloading fresh seafood products from vesselsMove various seafood products to chillers, freezers, and live tanksSort, dress, and fillet fish with a proven ability to maintain a high recovery rateClean and retrieve meat from shellfish and crustaceansLoad seafood products into trucksPack boned and filleted seafood into cartonsInspect and grade fish and shellfish for size and qualityPack fish and count packs before freezing, and pack frozen fish blocks into cartonsOperate machines which slice, peel, skin, crumb, and package seafood productClean and sanitise equipment and work areasEnsure that all workplace safety regulations are complied with
Salary and BonusesFor successful candidates, an annual salary for full-time employees will range from $68,864 to $70,000 for Deck / Fishing Hands and Ship's Officers, $70,000 to $80,000 for Ship's Engineers and Master Fishers, and $75,000 to $90,000 for Ship's Master.
In addition to base salaries, all occupations are adjusted at least once a year by bonuses based on the catch, which means a Ship's Master might earn in excess of $120,000 depending on performance and circumstances.
Seafood Processor CompensationFull-time positions may be offered between $68,864 and $70,000 per year plus superannuation guarantee.
Remuneration will be commensurate with skills and experience.
