Join a rapidly growing, agile Mortgage Manager in Melbourne. High DLA, direct impact on credit policy, and a solution‐focused credit culture. Apply now!
About Us
THRY Mortgage Management is an emerging, dynamic Non‐Bank Mortgage Manager backed by leading wholesale funder relationships. We pride ourselves on speed, flexibility, and a genuine "solution‐oriented" approach to lending. Unlike traditional, rigid bureaucratic institutions, we look beyond the checkboxes to understand the real story behind every complex deal.
As we scale our operations and implement cutting‐edge fintech systems, we are looking for 1‐2 exceptional Senior Credit Managers to join our foundation team in Melbourne. This is a unique opportunity to shape our credit culture from the ground up and grow with the business.
The Role
Reporting directly to the executive leadership team, you will hold a significant Delegation of Lending Authority (DLA). You will be responsible for assessing and approving high‐value, complex residential and alternative‐doc (Alt‐Doc) loan applications while ensuring strict compliance with our warehouse funder guidelines.
This is not just a back‐office processing role; you will be a key decision‐maker, a policy contributor, and a key point of contact for our elite broker network.
Key Responsibilities
* Credit Assessment: End‐to‐end assessment and decisioning of prime, near‐prime, and complex self‐employed (Alt‐Doc) loan applications within your DLA.
* Complex Structures: Conduct deep‐dive financial analysis into complex servicing structures, including corporate entities, discretionary trusts, SMSF, and multiple income streams.
* Risk Mitigation: Review and evaluate security properties (including high‐density or non‐standard securities) using valuation reports and market data to mitigate credit risk.
* Broker & Stakeholder Engagement: Provide constructive, professional, and solution‐focused feedback to mortgage brokers and internal BDMs on scenarios, conditions, or declines.
* Policy & Process Innovation: Actively contribute to the enhancement of THRY's credit policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and the optimization of our loan origination systems.
* Mentorship: Provide guidance, coaching, and sign‐offs for junior credit underwriters to help expand the team's capabilities.
What We Are Looking For (Your Profile)
* Experience: Minimum 5+ years of credit underwriting experience in the Australian mortgage industry, ideally with a Non‐Bank Lender, Mortgage Manager, or Second‐Tier Bank.
* High DLA: Currently holding or recently held a substantial residential DLA
* Financial Acumen: Exceptional skills in analyzing company financial statements, tax returns, BAS, and calculating complex serviceability.
* Mindset: A strong "solution‐focused" mindset—you know how to look for compensating factors to make a deal work, without compromising on core risk parameters.
* Tech‐Savvy: Comfortable working with modern CRM and credit systems (experience with Salestrekker, NextGen/ApplyOnline, or Equifax is highly regarded).
* Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex credit decisions clearly and commercially.
What's on Offer
* Competitive Salary Package: A lucrative base salary + superannuation, tailored to your experience and DLA capability.
* Career Growth: As a founding member of the credit team, you will have a direct path to leadership roles as the company expands.
* Autonomy & Impact: Say goodbye to endless red tape. Your voice matters here, and you will have a direct impact on our credit appetite and workflow design.
* Modern Culture: A collaborative, professional, and forward‐thinking work environment based in Melbourne.
