Due to continuous growth and expansion an exciting opportunity exists to join the Wren Oil production team as a Laboratory Assistant
The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in our refinery operations team, maintaining and operating LAB instruments and analytical activities.
Full time permanent position in Picton, WA. This role operates Monday to Friday.
Who are we looking for?
To be successful in your application we require a positive attitude and a high degree of professionalism, ensuring improvement of product quality. You will need to show relevant demonstrable experience and abilities preferably in a field environment. You will be working directly in our lube oil refinery, testing and sampling our products on site.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assisting in the maintaining and operating LAB instruments, ensuring adherence to quality results for refinery operations
* Assisting in sampling, testing and quality control checks including Base Oil, FO and PSO, storm, bore and water treatment testing and managing production blends to all legislative requirements.
* Assit the Senior Laboratory Chemist in preparing samples, solutions and calibration standards for testing in the chemistry laboratory whilst maintaining sample integrity and traceability
* Performing a wide range of tests, QC checks, processing and recording data, as well as recognising trends and out of control conditions.
* Maintaining a clean, organised, and hazard-free laboratory workspace, ensuring equipment is safely operated and well-maintained
* Collaborating with the Operational team to safely operate shared equipment and support continuous laboratory operations
* Under guidance from Senior Laboratory Chemist, perform sampling and testing of samples.
Requirements:
* Valid C Class driver's license
* A relevant TAFE qualification in Chemistry and/or a Science related field
* Moderate Level Computer literacy (MS Office)
* Highly motivated with proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Good communication and time management skills.
* Strong ability to learn procedures quickly and thrive under pressure
* Quality focused with a high attention to detail and an ability to problem solve
* Strong organisational, multi-tasking and prioritisation skills
* Must be able to pass a pre-employment medical
