SSI is delivering the Asylum Seeker Employment Skills Support program (ASESS) on behalf of the NSW Government, providing employment support services to address the challenges experienced by asylum seekers in finding suitable long‐term employment opportunities.
About the Role
The ASESS Regional Team Leader is responsible for ensuring exceptional, trauma‐informed, participant‐centred service to deliver employment outcomes for asylum seekers. Reporting to the Program Manager, the leader provides day‐to‐day leadership of the ASESS program across Regional NSW. Based in the Riverina, the role requires travel across the state to oversee a team comprising full‐time and part‐time ASESS Employment Navigators, Employment Advocates and Community Advocates. The leader monitors, tracks, forecasts and reports on KPI targets to ensure delivery of the SSI Service Delivery Model (SDM) in alignment with ASESS DEED requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure participant‐centred, trauma‐informed employment services that achieve outcomes for asylum seekers.
* Provide day‐to‐day leadership and support for the ASESS regional team.
* Travel across Regional NSW to oversee staff and service delivery.
* Monitor, track, forecast and report on KPI targets aligned with the SSI Service Delivery Model.
Key Qualifications
* Completion of or currently enrolled in Certificate IV in Front Line Management or higher qualification.
* Ability to motivate, lead and manage a team to deliver high‐quality customer service and achieve outcomes.
* Experience interacting with job seekers both in groups and one‐on‐one settings.
* Trauma‐informed, customer‐centric approach with empathy for ASESS participants.
* Good working knowledge of local, state and national labour markets.
* Proven business development, sales or marketing ability, excellent communication skills, high‐level negotiation skills and persuasive ability.
* Strong ethics, accountability and integrity.
* Previous experience in Employment Services, Community Services or complementary sector(s), understanding of working with asylum seekers or refugees, preferably in employment.
* Understanding of the challenges facing asylum seekers' employment in Australia, or lived experience in this area.
* Skills in a language other than English would be an advantage.
