Job Description:
Our client is seeking a skilled Buying and Merchandising Specialist to join their dynamic and fast-paced retail business. This role involves sourcing and purchasing jewellery, across precious metals, gemstones, and finished pieces for both retail and special-order purposes.
The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on product development, supplier negotiation, and data analysis. They will play a key role in curating a compelling and commercially viable jewellery range that resonates with customers.
Responsibilities:
* Source and develop jewellery ranges aligned with customer demand and market trends
* Negotiate with local and international suppliers to secure optimal pricing, availability, and trading terms
* Manage budgets, inventory levels, and product lifecycle including exit strategies for slow-moving stock
* Coordinate with retail teams on stock levels, customer feedback, and in-store visual merchandising needs
* Attend trade shows and supplier meetings to identify new trends and business opportunities
* Oversee promotional activity setup and marketing proofing
* Review and process faulty or damaged stock returns
* Prepare reports related to supplier performance, product analysis, and inventory metrics
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Minimum 5 years' experience in a buying, purchasing, or procurement role (retail, fashion, or luxury goods)
* Strong negotiation and supplier management experience (domestic and international)
* Experience in inventory and stock level management
* High attention to detail and strong analytical capabilities
* Excellent communication and project management skills
* Australian driver's licence
