Melwood Joinery is not your typical contractor.
We are one of Melbourne's only businesses that both manufacture joinery in-house and deliver full carpentry/site installation, giving us complete control from factory through to final install.
Due to continued growth, we're looking for a high-level Site Manager who can take ownership of projects across both carpentry and joinery installation, and drive outcomes on site.
This is a hands‐on, relationship‐driven role — ideal for someone who knows how to manage trades, hold standards, and keep projects moving without excuses.
About the Role
You'll be the key link between our factory, clients, and site teams — ensuring projects are set up properly, run efficiently, and closed out to a high standard.
This is not a babysitting role. You'll be expected to take control, solve problems, and keep subcontractors accountable.
Key Responsibilities
* Project handovers to site install subcontractors
* Sourcing, negotiating & onboarding subcontractors for carpentry and joinery installs
* Site measures, including use of 3D scanning technology for complex joinery
* Managing defects and close‐out stages across both carpentry and joinery projects
* Monthly progress claims and subcontractor claim assessments/sign‐offs
* Maintaining and strengthening client relationships throughout project delivery
* Material call‐ups from bulk procurement orders
* Overseeing site setups, including SWMS and client‐specific requirements
* Preparation and delivery of end‐of‐project documentation & manuals
What We're Looking For
* Strong background in commercial carpentry and/or joinery installation
* Minimum 8+ years of experience in commercial carpentry or joinery installation
* Proven experience managing subcontractors and site delivery
* Minimum 3-4 years of subcontractor and site delivery management experience
* Confident in negotiation and holding trades accountable
* Ability to read drawings and understand joinery detail
* Intermediate level proficiency in reading drawings and understanding joinery detail
* Organised with solid understanding of claims, variations, and project flow
* Tech‐capable (experience with scanning/measuring tech is a bonus)
* Professional communicator who can handle clients directly
