Community Health Nurse
Newman Community Centre – Flexible, Part-Time or Job-Share Options Available
The Newman Community Centre is a vibrant, inclusive hub at the heart of the East Pilbara. For 30 years we've supported the wellbeing, resilience and connection of our community through programs, events, outreach, and practical support services. As we continue this vital work, we are looking for a compassionate and community-minded Community Health Nurse to join our team.
This role is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day. Our Community Health Nurse supports individuals and families across Newman by offering accessible, person-centred care, health education, and pathways to services that improve long-term wellbeing.
About the Role
As our Community Health Nurse, you will:
• Provide point-of-care testing and basic screening services (e.g., blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol)
• Offer health consultations, education and support tailored to the needs of women, families, children, seniors, and vulnerable community members.
• Support community access to cancer screening pathways, chronic condition management information, and referrals.
• Participate in and support major community programs including our Women's Wellness initiatives, Pilbara Pride Month, school holiday programs, health promotion events and pop-up wellbeing activities.
• Work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to identify gaps in community health and help co-design responsive programs.
• Advocate for accessible, culturally safe services for all community members.
• Maintain accurate records and uphold all relevant health and safety standards.
• Build meaningful, trusting relationships within the community and help individuals navigate support systems and services.
This role is varied and community-focused—perfect for someone who loves engaging with people, adapts easily, and thrives in a supportive, values-driven environment.
