About Us
At Breakthru, we're all about people – their goals, their potential, and their future. As a trusted leader in disability, mental health, and employment services, we empower individuals to thrive through personalised, strengths-based support. From daily living to education, employment, and community connection, we're here to back every breakthrough moment.
As part of the Royal Rehab Group, you'll be backed by one of Australia's most respected not-for-profit organisations, with over 125 years of experience delivering life-changing disability and rehabilitation services. This means you'll have the stability, resources, and support to grow your career and make a real impact in people's lives.
We offer a vibrant, inclusive culture that values your expertise.
We encourage applications from all members of our community, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, LGBTIQA+ individuals, people with disability, and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
About the Role
The Family Mental Health Support Service (FMHSS), funded by the Department of Social Services, is an early intervention and prevention support service for children aged 0-18 years and their families who are at risk of, or experiencing, issues relating to mental health. Participants can access FMHSS via self-referral, through schools and other community support agencies, or at the suggestion of family or friends. Our services are entirely free, flexible, and adaptive to the needs of the family. We provide support in schools, in our offices, or via Telehealth, ensuring accessibility and convenience for all.
We cater to all communities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, migrant, refugee, asylum seeker backgrounds, and people with disabilities.
Role Responsibilities
Deliver personalised one-on-one support to children and young people, creating a safe space for clients to share, explore, and learn about their mental health challenges and strategies to reduce risks.
Provide education and strategies to parents, equipping them with the tools and understanding to support their child's mental health journey effectively.
Facilitate tailored group programs focused on addressing a range of mental health-related topics, such as self-esteem, confidence, anger management, and social skills.
Undertake basic assessments, provide information, and manage sensitive enquiries.
Develop and implement Family Action Plans.
Connect individuals with additional support services as needed.
About You

You may be someone who is passionate about this space looking for a team to build your long-term career; you may want to take some time out from delivering complex and challenging essential services; have lived/living experience of disability or mental health that you'd like to turn into a career; or perhaps you are looking to switch into a program that really puts people at the heart.
