We are seeking a talented individual to join our Risk and Compliance team at Marsh McLennan. This role can be based anywhere in Australia. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

The primary purpose of this role is to provide advice and oversight of the business's strategic and operational implementation and associated risk-taking activities in respect of Mercer's Financial Advice and Operations businesses (Mercer Financial Advice (Australia) Pty Ltd, and Mercer Outsourcing (Australia) Pty Ltd, respectively).
This includes Management of cyclical risk activities, oversight and analysis of core risk data to identify emerging trends and support the Senior Manager, Risk Advisory in the implementation of core activities.
Critical to this is the ability to understand the business and ensuring strong engagement with both key internal and external stakeholders along with the ability to draw insight from risk data.
We will count on you to:
Risk Management (including Compliance risks)
1. Cultivate a culture of risk awareness through leading and supporting initiatives to uplift skills and capability relating to governance, risk and compliance across the Business.
2. Provide oversight and monitoring of first line risk and business teams including control attestation and validation.
3. Complete and provide accurate risk assessments on initiatives including adherence to Global policy requirements.
4. Obtain and analyse risk data from internal and external sources to identify emerging risks and areas for improvement in risk capability.
5. Promote continuous improvement of the internal control environment, including sharing of better practice controls and processes.
* Participate in local and global initiatives requiring risk and compliance input.
Process and Reporting
* Prepare (and present) concise and meaningful professional risk and compliance reports for Management and related Boards and Board sub-committees.
* Co-ordinate cyclical risk activities across the portfolio in an efficient and effective manner
* Partner closely with colleagues to drive alignment and consistent implementation of risk framework accountabilities.
What you need to have:
6. At least 3-5 year's working in a risk, compliance or legal role with experience related to financial advice and/or operations. Work experience should show some depth in the practical application of risk management.
7. Experience working in or providing services to a regulated financial services business, with an ability to interpret and apply associated legislative requirements.
8. To be able to demonstrate clearly an ability to undertake the role accountabilities described above, experience in the following needs to be demonstrated:
9. Sound understanding and ability to operate within Risk and Compliance frameworks, including the ability to consider risk strategically and take a commercial approach to compliance when required.
10. Ability to provide value add advice to the Business in respect of risks, controls, process and administrative matters.
11. Ability to analyse data and collate and prepare reports in relation to risk profiles, compliance plans, statutory requirements, regulatory fund lodgements, incidents, audit risk data.
12. Strong written and verbal communication, with foundation capability of operating with Boards and in the provision of Director level information.
13. Ability to manage deliverables with rapidly changing priorities and demands.
14. Executive level interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication.
15. Strong technical skills in Risk, Compliance and/or Legal.
16. Ability to analyse and communicate complex matters in a commercially sensible way.
* Ability to research and develop high level advice on legislative change specifically as applicable to MIS, AML, data protection/privacy requirements.
