About the role
We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our finance team behind some of Australia's biggest festivals. The role is a full‐time, 12‐month fixed‐term contract based in Melbourne or Sydney, reporting to the Management Accountant. You will be the engine room of our finance function, keeping the books tight and our systems running smoothly from end‐to‐end bookkeeping through to month‐end reporting.
What you'll be doing
- Bookkeeping: Manage end‐to‐end bookkeeping via Oracle, including accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliation, and credit card and expense management.
- Invoicing: Create, send, and follow up on invoices to keep cash flow on track.
- Expense management: Ensure all budgeted expenses are approved and paid in line with company policy.
- Stakeholder communication: Liaise with key department managers to ensure accuracy of incoming financial information.
- Financial reporting: Support the Finance team with documentation, month‐end processes, and reporting data entry.
What you'll bring
- Minimum three years of hands‐on bookkeeping experience, ideally within a fast‐paced environment.
- Proven experience using Oracle Accounting Software.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
- Attention to detail and the ability to maintain high standards under pressure.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work across teams and with external stakeholders.
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Finance are preferred; prior experience in the events industry is a bonus.
