This is a permanent part-time (0.13 FTE) position commencing Term 3, 2025. Located in the suburb of Secret Harbour, approximately 55 kilometres south of the city of Perth. Comet Bay Primary School is at the heart of a thriving beachside community alongside the Indian Ocean, with approximately 634 students and part of the South Metro Educational Region.

The Role
As a Gardener – Handyperson, you will work to provide gardening, grounds, and facility management, keeping the school grounds to a high standard. You will maintain the school grounds and gardens in an attractive, clean, and tidy condition, and ideally provide a suitable growing environment for both soft and hard landscaping, including turf management. You will maintain tools and horticultural equipment in a serviceable condition, in accordance with the Department's policies and guidelines.
Our community takes pride in all school facilities, including our produce gardens and kitchen, where students learn about growing, harvesting, cooking, and eating. Students may care for chickens or the aquaponics area.
The successful applicant, under direction from the Senior Gardener, will contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of the produce garden, including propagation of seasonal stock and cultivation of growing beds. The role includes minor repairs and other gardener/handyperson duties as required. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to receive and carry out instructions are essential.
Eligibility

consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
