System Technician - Tunnel Operations (2x Roles)
Locations: Saint Helena - Near Byron Bay NSW (occasionally Tugun, QLD site)
Duration: 6-Month Contract | Full-Time, On-site
Pay: To be discussed (flat hourly rate, day/night shifts)

We’re seeking two skilled System Technicians to support the delivery, maintenance, and performance of Operational Management and Control Systems (OMCS). You’ll be part of a highly specialised team ensuring tunnel control, safety, and communications infrastructure is operating at peak efficiency.
What you’ll do
- Monitor, triage, and rectify defects in a bespoke PLC-based SCADA system.
- Manage system hardware and software (servers, storage, networks).
- Perform preventative maintenance, backups, and updates across systems such as VMware vCenter, Veeam, Solarwinds, Genetec, and Studio 5000.
- Be part of a rotating on-call roster for system outages and urgent issues.
- Liaise with vendors and internal teams for incident resolution.
- Work hands-on across OMCS, TMCS, PMCS, CCTV, PA systems, and more.
- Minimal travel between Saint Helena and Tugun tunnel assets.
What we’re looking for
- Cert IV (or higher) in Control Systems, Electronics, IT, Computer Science, or similar.
- Robust hands-on experience with SCADA systems, industrial PLCs, virtualization platforms, and industrial networking.
- Knowledge of LANs, OT networks, and critical safety systems.
- A proactive communicator with solid defect management and escalation experience.
- Valid Australian driver’s licence (P1 or higher).
- Willingness to participate in on-call and shift work (including weekends).
