This is a contract role, full-time hours, offering the opportunity to lead automation projects, optimise efficiencies, operations, and drive technological advancements across mining operations. About the Role As an Automation Engineer, you will be pivotal in supporting and delivering feedback from the study across automation, control, and electrical systems within our mining operations. You will work closely with operations, maintenance, and project teams to troubleshoot and implement automation solutions that enhance safety, efficiency, and performance and document this work. Key Responsibilities Lead the end-to-end delivery of automation study across multiple sites, including PLC/SCADA development, system integration, and commissioning. Troubleshoot and optimise control systems, ensuring seamless operation of plant automation and electrical infrastructure. Design, program, and maintain PLCs (Rockwell Logix, Siemens TIA Portal, CTI), SCADA (Citect, Lighthouse SFOL), and HMI systems. Configure and support SQL databases, data logging, and reporting systems, integrating Kepware and cloud platforms. Collaborate with IT/OT teams to develop advanced automation solutions and ensure system security and reliability. Provide technical leadership and mentorship within the engineering team, managing automation and electrical infrastructure for mining operations. What We're Looking For Degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, or Systems Engineering. Proven experience in industrial automation, PLC programming, SCADA development, and electrical documentation Strong knowledge of SQL, industrial networks, and cloud connectivity platforms. Demonstrated success managing automation projects and leading cross-functional teams. High safety awareness, with relevant high-risk licenses and certifications. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills. Ability to prioritise, multi-task, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
