As a skilled diesel engine technician, you will work in a specialist environment providing high-quality maintenance and technical support to clients with a range of makes, models and applications.
About the Role
* You will be responsible for diagnosing faults in diesel engines and mechanical systems using manual inspection and diagnostic tools.
* Dismantling engines, transmissions, steering systems, suspension, and other key components for inspection and repair is also part of your duties.
* You will check individual parts for wear, defects, or damage and either repair or replace them as needed.
* Your work will involve using service manuals and manufacturer specifications as guidance to ensure all repairs are carried out correctly.
* Reassembling engines and mechanical systems after repairs is another important task.
* You will test and adjust mechanical parts to ensure correct performance and functionality.
* Routine servicing such as oil changes, lubrication, coolant top-up, and engine tune-ups will also be required.
* You will check and replace filters, belts, and fluids to maintain optimal performance.
* Compliance with environmental and pollution control regulations must be ensured by performing tasks that meet these requirements.
* Inspecting heavy vehicles for roadworthiness and safety is also an essential part of your job.
* Liaising with parts suppliers to handle supply chain management issues is another duty.
* You will manage projects including timelines, maintenance schedules and budgets.
* Engaging with customers to grow the business is also expected from you.
* You may be required to prepare reports or issue roadworthiness certificates or identify required repairs to meet legal standards.
* Operating computer-based diagnostic systems to assess engine and system performance is a skill you will use daily.
* You will interpret fault codes and data for accurate troubleshooting.
* Keeping up to date with latest agricultural engineering principles and new technology is a requirement for this role.
Requirements
* A relevant certificate III qualification with at least two years on-the-job training or three years relevant experience may substitute formal qualifications.
* At least three years of work experience is necessary.
* You should have strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
* Experience using computer-aided software is also desirable.
