About the Role

The Arts, Heritage and Libraries Branch play a vital role in supporting learning, creativity and connection across the region, offering exciting opportunities to contribute to vibrant public spaces and meaningful community engagement.

As a Liaison Visitor Officer, you will:

* Deliver inclusive, high‑quality customer service and guide visitors to spaces, services and events.
* Carry out daily building operations, including opening, closing and monitoring shared spaces.
* Provide first‑tier support for sign‑ins, bookings, event registrations and basic technology needs.
* Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of building procedures, programs and services.
* Manage authorised access to spaces, including outside regular opening hours.
* Conduct regular patrols to ensure safety, compliance and smooth facility use.
* Monitor behaviour and apply appropriate response or de‑escalation strategies when needed.
* Respond to concerns, complaints and emergencies in line with procedures.
* Provide initial support and referrals for visitors experiencing social issues.
* Support emergency management activities, complete required reporting and uphold compliance and record‑keeping standards.

About you

The successful candidate will have:

* Certificate II in Security Operations and a current Class 1 Queensland security licence.
* Proven customer service and security experience within similar facilities.
* Strong ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
* Excellent time‑management and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently or within a team.
* Confident using verbal, radio and digital communication systems.
* Sound judgement and reliability when working unsupervised or handling challenging situations.
* Strong communication skills, with the tact and initiative to support and guide visitors.
* Proficient with business technologies used in libraries and community facilities.
* Ability to work weekends and varied hours as part of an any‑5‑in‑7 roster.
* Holds or can obtain First Aid, CPR and Blue Card certifications, with the physical capability for active, hands‑on duties.
* Current "C" Class Drivers Licence.
