Launceston General Hospital (LGH) is the major acute referral hospital for Northern Tasmania, with the Emergency Department providing 24/7 care to a broad regional community. The team works closely with medical, nursing, allied health, Ambulance Tasmania, inpatient and community services to deliver safe, timely and patient‐centred emergency care.
The RoleThe Director – Emergency Medicine provides senior clinical and strategic leadership for the Emergency Department, working in partnership with nursing and medical leaders to support safe care, patient flow, workforce planning, clinical governance and service improvement.

Details of AppointmentSpecialist Medical Practitioner Level 1‐3 salary range: $222,789 – $319,701 per annum, pro rata, plus 12% superannuation and access to salary packaging. Salary range aligns with the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award. Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2025.
