**Description**:
- Austin Racing's thoroughbred racing stable currently has a position available for a Horse Educator.
**About The Role**
The successful applicant will have at least 3 years experience, motivated, dedicated and have a genuine love of horses. You will work closely with and under the guidance of stable forepersons and the trainer Jarrod Austin.
It is a fulltime (38hrs per week) salaried position. You will be required to work on public holidays on a rotational basis where possible and to work a reasonable number of additional hours where required including race day attendance.
We are offering an attractive salary package between $73,150 - $75,000 per annum, plus super.
**Experience / Qualifications**
Certificate 3 or equivalent international qualification or at least 3 years fulltime or equivalent experience.
Minimum 1- 2 years experience at qualified level
Proven knowledge and experience of horse handling and training methods specific to the thoroughbred racing industry.
Safe operation of all training/racing equipment and personal safety equipment.
Handling horses from yearlings upwards with a variety of temperaments.
Proven ability to train and educate racehorses, including educating horses on the ground, riding fast & slow work, swimming & barrier work.
Ability to work in a team and independently.
Sound knowledge of health and safety obligations and demonstrated skills in safe operation of equipment relevant to the training and preparation of racehorses.
**Other Skills**
Strong organisational skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with the trainer, staff, owners, and officials. Prepare reports where required.
Ability to follow direction.
Ability to manage a team of horses and staff under the guidance of the foreperson and/or trainer.
**Duties And Responsibilities**
Implement and manage the training plan for each horse as set by the trainer.
Prioritise, co-ordinate and delegate tasks on a daily basis and make adjustments where necessary based on weather, staff changes and the racing schedule.
Report and liaise on a daily basis the trainer.
Monitor and manage horse welfare.
Data management and reporting
Attend barrier trials.
Attend race meeting as stable representative as required.
Ensure OH&S standards are adhered to.
Pay: $73,150.00 per year plus super.
