The Position
We’re currently seeking a Leading Hand – Diesel Mechanic to join our Ballarat Workshop .
This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified mechanic ready to step into a leadership role. You will support and guide the maintenance team while remaining hands-on with vehicle servicing. This role offers the perfect blend of workshop work and team coordination—ensuring jobs are completed safely, on time, and to our high standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee and coordinate day-to-day workshop operations
* Allocate tasks to mechanics and apprentices
* Perform mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance
* Monitor parts inventory and order as required
* Ensure safe work practices and uphold workshop standards
* Liaise with the Workshop Manager to support scheduling and priorities
What You’ll Need
* Trade qualification as a diesel mechanic
* Previous experience in a similar or senior technician role
* Strong attention to detail and a proactive attitude
* Great communication and organisational skills
* Ability to work independently and lead by example
