We’re looking for someone with 1 – 2 years of experience who has recently started or is about to commence CA or CPA studies. As an Assistant Accountant, you’ll play a key role in supporting our national finance team. Your responsibilities will include contributing to month-end processes, reporting, and a range of accounting projects. This is an exciting opportunity to gain exposure to: A firm-wide system implementation Internal process reviews Driving improvements and automation initiatives Key Duties and Responsibilities: Complete month end activities, including balance sheet reconciliations and processing journal entries Preparation of P&L and balance sheet variance analysis, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to management Preparation of statutory financial statements, reports and accounting workpapers Proactively identify and resolve financial risks including transactional, reporting and account reconciliation issues, and implement improvements to our internal processes and workpapers Implement and undertake accounting functions and projects as required Support internal and external audit requests Working collaboratively with the team to meet deadlines and continually improve our processes Skills/Attributes Required: Strong technical accounting skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with team members and stakeholders Ability to problem solve, think critically about processes, and identify efficiencies Excellent attention to detail to ensure accuracy Ability to effectively prioritise tasks and consistently meet strict deadlines Qualifications and Experience required: 1-2 years of relevant experience in professional services Bachelor of Business/ Accounting (or other relevant tertiary qualifications) Undergoing CA/ CPA Experience with Workday (preferred but not essential) Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills Why BDO?
