The opportunity
The Technology Lead is responsible for owning the overall technical architecture, engineering standards, and technology direction across the organisation’s digital platforms.
This role bridges Digital Product and Engineering — ensuring solutions are well designed, scalable, secure, and aligned to business priorities. The Technology Lead provides technical leadership to the development team while remaining hands-on in solution design and architectural decision-making.
Some of the things you will be involved in:
* Own and evolve the overall system architecture across digital platforms
* Lead technical solution design for new initiatives and major enhancements
* Translate product and business requirements into scalable technical designs
* Set and enforce engineering standards, best practices, and coding guidelines
* Review and approve technical designs and major code changes
* Provide hands-on technical leadership and mentoring to developers
* Oversee API design, backend architecture, integrations and system performance
* Ensure solutions are secure, scalable and resilient
* Guide DevOps, CI/CD processes and environment management
* Act as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues
* Identify technical debt and drive structured remediation plans
* Support technology roadmap planning alongside Digital Product
We are looking for you to bring:
Qualifications
* Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (preferred but not mandatory)
* Relevant cloud or architecture certifications (desirable)
Essential Skills and Experience
* Software engineering experience, with demonstrated technical leadership
* Strong backend development experience (e.g. .NET Core, REST APIs, SQL-based systems)
* Proven experience designing scalable, secure enterprise applications
* Experience defining and maintaining system architecture
* Strong understanding of API design, microservices and system integrations
* Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices
* Experience working with cloud infrastructure (e.g. AWS)
* Ability to lead and influence technical teams without micromanaging
* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to simplify complex systems
Desirable Skills and Experience
1. Experience working in a subscription or high-traffic digital platform environment
2. Experience with modern web frameworks (e.g. Next.js, React)
3. Experience integrating third-party platforms and
