Our services are evidence-based, client-centred, and trauma-informed.Gallang Place is a trusted healing and support service for First Nations peoples. Our services include:Counselling for individuals and families;Employee Assistance Services;VET Accredited Training in Mental Health and Counselling;Alcohol and Other Drugs Workshops;Outreach and face-to-face support and mentoring.To meet our increasing demand, we are seeking passionate and dedicated First Nations male and female counsellors and youth support workers to join our healing and support teams in Brisbane and Townsville.ABOUT THE POSITIONWe are seeking (full-time and part-time) counsellors and youth support workers to deliver therapeutic healing and youth support services to our First Nation clients in Brisbane and Townsville, and who want to make a difference.This position will require providing counselling and youth support services face-to-face, through outreach, and tele-health services.PLEASE NOTE: This is an identified position to be filled by Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons as permitted by and arguable under sections 25, 104, and 105 of the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act (1991).ABOUT YOUWe are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic First Nations counsellors and youth support workers committed to maintaining professional, culturally safe, trauma-informed support for our First Nations clients.To be successful, you will have:A minimum of a Certificate IV or Diploma in counselling, Youth Work, Community Service, case management, or similar;Eligibility to register with ACA, PACFA, AASW, or AHPRA;Experience working within the Social and Emotional Wellbeing sector, providing trauma-informed, culturally safe, confidential counselling, youth support, and/or case management that supports self-determination and empowerment;The ability to provide a safe environment for people at risk of harm and respond to traumatic or critical incidents;Experience in creating respectful, meaningful, collaborative, and inclusive relationships with clients;Ability to liaise effectively with support services and programs relevant to the client's healing journey;Commitment to ongoing professional development, including supervision;Ability to work in a team environment and follow directions to achieve outcomes;Accurate, confidential record-keeping and report writing skills;A current driver's license;A current blue card and willingness to undergo a criminal history check;Experience working within an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation or community is advantageous.WE OFFER:Experience in a leading, trusted Not-For-Profit First Nations Community-Based organisation;Flexible work options, including Christmas shutdown leave;Ongoing training, professional development, clinical supervision, and career pathways;Salary Sacrifice benefits (up to $15,900 tax-free annually and other benefits);Family-friendly, flexible work environment with additional leave options;Access to EAP support for staff and families.Specific Conditions: This position has been identified as a genuine occupational requirement that it be filled by an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person as permitted by sections 25, 104, and 105 of the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act (1991).HOW TO APPLY:Submit your resume and a one-page statement about your interest in working with Gallang Place.
