Job Description
As a GSS Developer (GE Smallworld), you will play a key role in the design, development, and enhancement of mission‐critical GIS platforms. Your work will ensure accuracy, efficiency, and reliability across spatial services used organisation‐wide. Responsibilities include:
Core Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and maintain GE Smallworld GSS‐based applications
* Build and enhance spatial services, APIs, and backend integrations
* Work with GeoServer and OpenLayers to develop advanced mapping interfaces
* Develop and maintain REST, SOAP, and Google Maps APIs
* Collaborate with cross‐functional engineering and GIS teams
* Deploy and manage applications within Kubernetes environments
* Deliver clean, maintainable, and scalable code across JavaScript, Node.js, Python, and PostgreSQL
* Support production systems and contribute to ongoing optimisation
The Successful Applicant
Required
You will be an experienced GIS developer with deep expertise in GE Smallworld GSS and strong modern programming capability. Mandatory skills include:
* 10+ years of experience in software or GIS development
* Hands‐on expertise in GE Smallworld GSS
* Strong proficiency in JavaScript, Node.js, Python, and PostgreSQL
* Experience working with GeoServer
* Skilled with OpenLayers for map‐based UI development
* Magik programming experience (essential)
* Strong understanding of API development (REST, SOAP, Google Maps APIs)
* Experience deploying/managing services in Kubernetes

* Must hold a valid working visa for Australia
