Job Overview
We are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to work 7 sessions in Fife CAMHS, covering part of the East Fife area within the EAST team. The base is at Playfield House, Stratheden Hospital Cupar, with clinic rooms in Glenrothes and Kirkcaldy. The role currently does not require on-call duties, but this may change in the future. The post involves contributing to emergency responses during working hours.
Department and Team
The Fife CAMHS department includes experienced clinicians from various disciplines such as Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Child Psychotherapy, and Dietetics. The post joins an established team of Consultant Psychiatrists, including trainees, approved for higher training from the Scottish National training scheme.
Specialist Services and Responsibilities
The service has pioneered Scotland's Intensive Therapy Service, including Eating Disorders, providing community-based support for children and young people with severe mental health issues. The post involves working with teams addressing self-harm, looked-after children, and sexual abuse cases. Key responsibilities include managing presentations related to anxiety, depression, trauma, eating difficulties, and ADHD with co-morbidities.
Pathways and Development Opportunities
The Tier 3 ADHD pathway, established for 10 years, offers assessment and treatment, including parent education and transition clinics, with medical input from a consultant psychiatrist. The service values skill development, research, and training, providing support for research activities and training events. Recent developments include the Neurodevelopmental Pathway (NDP), emphasizing collaboration across agencies.
Qualifications and Requirements
Candidates must possess MRCPsych or equivalent, with CCT or within 6 months of obtaining it. UK-trained doctors should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of entry. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training and knowledge. Portfolio Pathway doctors are only eligible after receiving the substantive award.
