About Our Therapeutic Programs
The Anglicare Southern Queensland Children Youth and Families Intensive Foster Care High Plus programs provide supportive interventions for young people and carers in foster and kinship care arrangements that are under stress, at risk of breakdown or requiring support to deal with the complexity of need presented by the young person being cared for.
The Anglicare Southern Queensland Children Youth and Families Intensive Foster Care High Plus programs involve:
Carer education and training
Behaviour management and placement support
In home support
Practical and financial assistance
Youth worker support
Systemic connection with therapeutic and allied health services.
About the Role
The overall purpose of this position is to provide care and/or support to children and young people, in foster or kinship care.
This role aims to enhance opportunities for the young person to participate in age-appropriate activities to support development of positive self-regard, community inclusion, positive relations with family of origin, and contribute to placement stability.
This position works alongside our team of Practitioners in supporting children to complete intervention work to achieve goals.
Shift length is between 3 and 8 hours typically and differs dependent on the needs of the child or carer being supported.
Start and finish times can be anywhere between 6am and 8pm (not limited to), with most shifts being in the after-school hours and some weekends.
Key Responsibilities
* To engage children and youth in purposeful activities to enhance life skills
* Proactive communication and relationship building with others from diverse backgrounds
* To utilize a trauma-informed approach in understanding child development and behaviour
* Capability to recognize the role of family dynamics, particularly in child protection contexts
* Supportive of youth in activities and foster independent living skills
* Effective contribution to team outcomes
* Able to operate autonomously while seeking guidance as needed
* Able to respond to crises flexibly, considering risk and compliance
* Understanding of provision of care in accordance with the Child Protection Act
Qualifications and Experience
A Certificate IV or higher qualification in Child, Youth & Family Intervention, Youth Services, Community Services, or a related field is required.
We also require current National Police Check, current Blue Card, and current Licensed Care Service (LCS).
