About the Role
We are seeking a Process Engineer, Ponds reporting to the Senior Production Process Engineer. This position is a permanent full‐time FIFO role on an 8/6 roster ex Perth to Wiluna.
The purpose of the role is to provide operational and technical oversight of the solar pond operations and to ensure efficient operation of the solar pond network to produce potassium harvest salts that achieve planned product quantity and quality. In addition, enhance production efficiency, resource recovery, product quality and environmental sustainability, whilst developing the execution of medium‐term and short‐term operational plans for the solar pond operation.
Responsibilities
* Analyse and evaluate trench and evaporation pond operations to identify opportunities for process improvements, increased potash recovery, and reduced energy consumption
* Apply expertise in mass balances to track material flows, assess efficiencies, and identify areas for optimisation
* Prepare models and forecasts for and simulate process scenarios, aiding in decision‐making and process improvements
* Collaborate with cross‐functional teams to design and implement process modifications, enhancing efficiency and overall performance
* Provide technical expertise and support to borefield and ponds operations teams, assisting with troubleshooting, process optimisation, and equipment maintenance
* Provide technical services oversight for planning, execution, and analysis of key technical services metrics for the pond operations and harvesting activities
* Develop and implement monitoring systems to track salt crystallisation rates and patterns in evaporation ponds
* Collect and analyse data to ensure proper crystallisation conditions, leading to optimal potash production and quality
* Manage and maintain accurate operational databases and presentation and reporting of data
* Manage and maintain key metallurgical data such as evaporation and rainfall
* Implement measures to optimise crystallisation processes for consistent product quality
3>About You
You will have a minimum of 7 years demonstrated practical experience in plant operations and/or process engineering within the salt, potash, or mining industry, with a focus on evaporation pond operations. You will have the ability to provide guidance and support to management in critical decision‐making situations and work in a high‐risk safety environment.
We are seeking a candidate who can communicate with a confident and compelling message to a wide range of stakeholders and who has an established approach to effectively source, gather, interpret, and communicate quantitative and qualitative data.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in chemical or metallurgical engineering
* Current "C" Class Western Australian driver's licence
* Advanced computer literacy and knowledge of Office 365 applications and software, with advanced skills in Excel
* Experience using Pronto
* Working knowledge of Aconex is desirable
* Working knowledge of INX is desirable
* In‐depth understanding of mineral processing and metallurgical accounting methodologies
* Sound knowledge of safety and environment management systems
* Familiarity with evaporation pond design and solar salt operating principals
* Knowledge of potash crystallisation processes and techniques
* A strong understanding of safety and contractor management
* Strong problem solving, numerical and analytical capabilities
* High level of integrity, confidentiality, and an ethical approach
* Capacity to handle complex situations and make decisions under pressure
* Fosters close working relationships with employees and contractors
* High level of emotional intelligence
